THC-H, THC-JD and THC-B: Your Guide to Trace Cannabinoids and Their Effects

HC-H, THC-B, THC-JD

Learn more about trace cannabinoids THC-H, THC-JD, THC-B.

While CBD and delta 9 THC dominate a majority of hemp and other legal cannabis products, the hemp plant has much more to offer. If you shop with us regularly, you may have noticed many of our high potency products contain other cannabinoids like THC-H, THC-JD and more recently, THC-B.

These compounds are referred to as “Trace Cannabinoids”. But, don’t let their small concentration fool you. These compounds pack a punch and enhance the potency and effects of CBD and THC based products. So, what are these compounds and what do they do?

Trace Cannabinoids

Industrial hemp has hundreds of compounds, called cannabinoids, that each have their own unique properties and effects on the body. Products listed as “full spectrum”, contain small amounts of all cannabinoids present in the hemp plant. Albeit, full spectrum products primarily contain CBD or THC. Many of these other cannabinoids are found in trace amounts that may not even show up on lab tests due to low concentration.

Because of North Carolina’s cannabis laws and limitations on THC concentration, along with other hemp-legal states, processors are beginning to isolate other trace cannabinoids to explore their effects. Because hemp is a fully legal commodity, processors have full reign on all cannabinoids present in the plant, psychoactive or not.

According to LEAFLY, “almost 150 phytocannabinoids have been detected in the cannabis plant, although few have been isolated and studied ” and “aside from the novelty of getting better acquainted with the plant and its myriad cannabinoids, identifying previously unknown cannabis compounds also holds immense therapeutic implications.

THC-H, TH-JD and THC-B
THC-JD is another naturally occurring trace cannabinoid that is supposedly stronger than delta 9 THC. THC-JD has a much different molecular structure than traditional THC, making its effects a little different than other trace cannabinoids.

What are the Effects of THC-H, TH-JD and THC-B?

While these three trace cannabinoids aren’t the only ones you’ll find in hemp products, they are some of the most prominent. If you’ve tried some of our new vapes of high potency edibles, you’ve probably seen THC-H and THC-JD listed on them. So, what are the effects of these cannabinoids?

THC-H

THC-H, like most trace cannabinoids, lacks a lot of scientific research into its effects and potential side effects. What we do know is that THC-H is a homolog to delta 9 THC, meaning the molecular structure is very similar. It’s found naturally in hemp and is supposedly 25 times stronger than delta 9 THC. Based on customer feedback and a recent article from High Times, THC-H has a relaxing body buzz with wonderful effects on anxiety and sleep.

THC-JD

THC-JD is another naturally occurring trace cannabinoid that is supposedly stronger than delta 9 THC. THC-JD has a much different molecular structure than traditional THC, making its effects a little different than other trace cannabinoids. According to customer feedback, THC-JD has a euphoric and uplifting buzz and provides a happy, giggly effect.

THC-B

THC-B is a little newer in the retail cannabis world, but its potential benefits are promising. Like all other trace cannabinoids, there isn’t a lot of research into THC-B and its effects. But, one animal study suggests that THC-B binds heavily to the body’s CB1 receptors, found mostly in the brain. This means THC-B can potentially be effective for anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns.

The same study also noted THC-B’s potential anti-inflammatory effects, making it a great candidate for pain relief. Like THC-H and THC-JD, THC-B is said to be stronger than delta 9 THC.

Are They Safe?

While there is limited research on these trace cannabinoids and their potential side effects, cannabis as a whole has been shown to be safe for most consumers. Cannabis has no known potential for overdose or life threatening side effects. However, these trace cannabinoids are potent. Please use caution when trying them and talk to your healthcare provider if you have any concerns or questions.

Where Can I Find These Trace Cannabinoids?

We have a number of products that contain some of these trace cannabinoids. Urb’s new THC infinity vape cartridges and disposable pens contain both THC-H, THC-JD and the more well known trace cannabinoid, THC-P. Extrax’s Goliath vape pens and Lights Out vape cartridges also contain THC-H and THC-JD.

If you prefer edibles, Extrax’s Lights Out gummies have a proprietary blend of cannabinoids, including THC-H and THC-JD. As for THC-B, the only product we carry currently is Urb’s THC-B with THC-P vape pens. These have become a new staff and customer favorite!

If you’re ready to try one of these potent trace cannabinoids, or if you have any questions or concerns, stop by the shop and ask one of our knowledgeable hemp tenders. We’re ready to help you find the relief you’re looking for.
